Tour De Flip Flop
Greg McKenzie will be cycling from Hanoi, Vietnam to Bangkok, Thailand on a route through Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and Thailand. He will leave Hanoi on October 20th and will arrive in Bangkok on November 15th.
The route is 2,600km and over 13,000 meters of elevation. He will be riding 20 out of 27 days. In addition to the physical challenges of this ride, there is also the sentimentality of spending more time in his wife Xay’s home country of Laos, and visiting family along the route. Greg has designated the Flip Flop Fund as the non-profit that he will fundraise on his ride. The Flip Flop Fund will use these funds to purchase footwear on a mission to Laos in the summer of 2020. Laos is ranked by the UN as one of the Least Developed Countries in the world, a measure they hope to rise above by 2024. Families in rural areas have needs for even the most basic items like footwear. Children who do not have even the most basic and affordable footwear, like a pair of flip flops, can be exposed to injury and infection. Greg will be with a group of riders on the TDA Cycling Bamboo Road Tour. More information on the entire Bamboo Road can be found here. The two segments that Greg is riding are the Golden Triangle and the Khmer Empire. Greg's blog is available here. |
